Dorchester School District Two is working closely with the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) to protect our students and staff from the flu. As part of that effort, DHEC will begin holding free H1N1 flu clinics in all schools for the administration of H1N1 flu vaccine. This is a wonderful service being provided for children and the community.
DHEC has randomly scheduled vaccination clinics at one school a day, beginning with the eleven elementary schools. ROMS has a tentative date that is scheduled for December 8th. The schedule will continue with middle and high schools, including Givhans Alternative Program, as supplies of the vaccine allows. Over the course of the next few weeks, students will bring home a packet of information from DHEC including a parental consent form for H1N1 vaccination, and a 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine fact sheet. Schools will notify parents of the date of the vaccination clinic.
If parents/guardians want their child to receive the H1N1 vaccination at the school-based clinic, the DHEC parental consent form must be completed with the requested information, and signed. The form should be returned to the school within a few days.
